Hi guys,
I apologize for not showing you other progresses on these past days, but as for everyboy, holidays came and my pc has been left on the desktop. I never thought that holidays could be so full, but since I’m always in another town to study, maybe it’s just like this.
So, I just want to tell you that I haven’t, obviously, abandoned the project. New steps will be shown soon.
See you!

Hi mates,
as the title of this news says, I must take some days off the modding, because my university will keep me very busy this week.
I’ve kept working on the Formula Renault 2.0 in these past days, refining come shapes and optimizing the mapping work. Now the game will have to load less single textures and I hope this will improve the fps, of course without quality loss. I’ll show you some new pics soon, just le me pass this heavy days and next week-end I’ll be enjoying again the modding challenge.
See you soon!

Hello mates!
As I promised, I’m keeping working on the mod.
In these days I’m testing the model import into the game, but I’ll show that later, I have to do some other good texture before I’ll show you
Be patient and I won’t disappoint you, eh eh
Wanna see something? Ok, but just a little pic for now

The rF mod structure is being worked
See you

Hello my friends!
As I announced, I’ve come back from U.K. and I already restarted working on the Formula Renault mod.
Just now, I’m working on the model mapping (it’s harder than I expected, but it’s going well).
Have you ever seen how mapping is in 3d studio max? If not here is your cookie for today

I’m thinking about modeling more detailed tires, I must do some tests and consider the polycount, but I will tell you
I would like to thank all the guys that left me comments on my work and sent me e-mails. Your words are a great push to work on this “little” mod.

Hi my friends,
before I leave for my english journey, I’ll post you a pair of pics of the model without the wireframe. I’m starting working on the smoothing, so I can see where to improve the geometry.
I’m really satisfied with the polycount, because at now the model has already a good level of detail but with a quite low number of polygons, that would result in better fps performance (which is one of my main goals for this car).
So that’s all for today mates, see you once I’ll be back from U.K.

Hi mates,
even with the great lack of spear time of this period, I’m keeping working on this car, doing some tests on the geometry.
I will be away for the next 3 weeks, going to university and then in the U.K. for a while, so I think you won’t see new updates on the blog in these weeks. I’ll try to post you something interesting once I’ll be back again. Then I think I can continue working on the mod quite regularly through the next months.
I’ll post some news about other projects in that period, so stay tuned!
Bye.

Hi everybody,
as promised, I post an update of the model. This week I had so many things to do (and will be the same for long time unfortunately), but I found the time to continue modeling this funny single-seater.
I modeled the rear geometry, I updated the back extractor (now it has the actual shape), I refined the front wing (now it has a realistic shape, it was too “fat” before), and I worked on the cockpit, building the seat, the shifter, the rpm dashboard, and the steering wheel (I modeled the classic type of Formula Renault wheel, but I’d like to put even a more fancy wheel as optional for you to chose). I also did other things in different parts of the body, but I don’t remember all them now (LOL).
So, the model is almost done, just little things missing. Now I’ll be focused on optimization of the smoothing, in-game import tests, and then I’ll start with the materials. It can be fast and terrible, or slow and good (or slow and terrible if I’ll do many mistakes)…since this mod is mainly for my satisfaction, I will take my time doing things the best way possible (and re-doing them if I’m not satisfied); so be patient for new updates, but stay tuned because I’ll try to write a new post every week.
Ok, you waited for a while, now here is your cookie (try playing “find the differences”).

Hope you like it, and feel free to contact me if you want.
See you!

Hi folks,
I’m finally back to work on the F.R. model, so I think I’ll post some update next week (let me enjoy my spare time in the week-end
).
I’ve already done some little modifications to the shape in points I wasn’t satisfied with (as the rear part of the diffuser and other little things).
Now I’m choosing a nice driving wheel to use for this mod, I watched several onboard and noticed that there are different types used, so I think I’ll go at first with a better looking modern formula wheel, but I’d like to add a classic one too after that.
I was examinating the 3d model. The main shape is quite finished, I just have to add some particulars and build the cockpit, then I’ll be concerned in rF import tests.
So, as before I’ll try to work everytime I got some spare minute. Hope to show you something interesting in the nex days.
Stay tuned!

Hi all,
as you have seen, I haven’t updated this blog for 2 weeks.
I’ve been working really hard and didn’t have time to produce big updates on my w.i.p.
Now, I’m about leaving, going to England for the next 2 weeks. It’s a really full period for me, but this doesn’t mean I’ll quit the work on the Formula Renault mod. I will continue it and post an update as soon as I come back at home and do other progresses on the model.
Just for don’t leave you without any news, I can tell you I already did some tests importing the model parts into rFactor and I’m satisfied with the way they look. My aim is to complete the model and have a correct import in the simulator, then I can do some tests on fps and decide if I can increase the polycount for better detail, even if I hope to have it working smooth even in older and slower computers.
So, stay tuned in the next weeks because I’ll post updates, see you on my comeback.

Hi all,
I had again some spare time and I spent it working on the model. I added the front suspensions geometry and completed the rear wing. I also worked on the base cockpit cell and some other particular, like mirrors. The work goes on pretty good and I hope to complete it soon. I also made some tests importing the parts in rF and it seems to be ok; I’ll have more importing tests once I completed some other part.

There are still a lot of things to do, but I finished the bigger ones, now comes the more difficult and interesting part, with all the particulars.
Stay tuned!
