Unfortunately, due to a technical problem, alla the files that made up he FR 2.0 mod have been lost. I was continuing working on it, even if more slowly, refining several things, and it would have been ready for betatesting in a short time. I’m really sad, this was my first entire project and it was turning out well…and I spent a lot of working hours on it.

I was really angry when this happened, and thought about closing everything, but this would be simply useless. So I’ve decided to reopen the blog and to start some other project I had in mind, since I don’t want to restart from scratch that mod (a little help about this decision has been given by the fact you already have a similar mod available on the net, if you want to race a FR 2.0).

The first work of this new “era” should be a track: a local karting track I started on BTB and want to fully redo in max for better quality. Updates on the blog will be significantly slower than in the past, since I’ll be working mainly in background in my spare time. By the way, we’ll see what we’ll have.

- BAZZA_RACER – painting and real life car technical support – BAZZA used to work for a Formula Renault team in real life, so he will bring us a very usefull contribution to the technical part, for a better and more realistic mod behaviour. - NCIS – painting – this guy is one of the best painters out there, we knew each other when painting addons skins for the ILMS mod, and I saw his great works. You can find his fantastic skins here http://www.rfactorcentral.com/painters_profile.cfm?ID=NCIS
- COSM1 – sounds, physics and other things – COSM1 is one of those guys that can do quite everything about modding. He’s a main name in the RPMT (Red Passion Modding Team). He offered me his help since the beginning of this project, and I’m happy to have hs cooperation too, especially now that we’re about to pass to the next step and start doing everything in-game.

So, let me thank these guys for their help and their interest in joining this project. With them we have all the basis to give you a really good mod.

I’ve started again working on this mod, after a very full period. Sorry but real life is always the most important thing

I would lke to say thank you for all the fantastic words I receive by mail from you, and I would like to thank all the guys working with these cars in real life who offered me their help. It is much appreciated and obviously some of you will be an important part of this project.
Now I’m concerned on putting the right bases to go to the next step in the better way possible, after the modeling process.
Probably I will announce good cooperations, as I hope.

I apologize for not showing you other progresses on these past days, but as for everyboy, holidays came and my pc has been left on the desktop. I never thought that holidays could be so full, but since I’m always in another town to study, maybe it’s just like this.

So, I just want to tell you that I haven’t, obviously, abandoned the project. New steps will be shown soon.

before I leave for my english journey, I’ll post you a pair of pics of the model without the wireframe. I’m starting working on the smoothing, so I can see where to improve the geometry.
I’m really satisfied with the polycount, because at now the model has already a good level of detail but with a quite low number of polygons, that would result in better fps performance (which is one of my main goals for this car).

as promised, I post an update of the model. This week I had so many things to do (and will be the same for long time unfortunately), but I found the time to continue modeling this funny single-seater.
I modeled the rear geometry, I updated the back extractor (now it has the actual shape), I refined the front wing (now it has a realistic shape, it was too “fat” before), and I worked on the cockpit, building the seat, the shifter, the rpm dashboard, and the steering wheel (I modeled the classic type of Formula Renault wheel, but I’d like to put even a more fancy wheel as optional for you to chose). I also did other things in different parts of the body, but I don’t remember all them now (LOL).
So, the model is almost done, just little things missing. Now I’ll be focused on optimization of the smoothing, in-game import tests, and then I’ll start with the materials. It can be fast and terrible, or slow and good (or slow and terrible if I’ll do many mistakes)…since this mod is mainly for my satisfaction, I will take my time doing things the best way possible (and re-doing them if I’m not satisfied); so be patient for new updates, but stay tuned because I’ll try to write a new post every week.
